  1. This is a good beginner’s guitar. Don’t worry about ‘crappy tuners’ or anything else – it is $90, looks great (important to 6yr olds), and sounds great (in tune – for a cheap 3/4 guitar). Going up the frets, it isn’t 100% accurate, but you’d never notice (especially for what it is intended – if I jammed on it around a campfire no one would notice, etc). It’s always a good idea to get a guitar particularly sized for your student but this is one that I would think most smallish people would not be ruined by by getting their hands around (it might actually serve them well). Caveat: if you’re unsure what you’re doing consult a teacher. Rock on!

The description calls this a “Satin” finish guitar when in reality (at least the one I received) was SUPER glossy. I posted photos to show the difference.

Also, the product photo shows a much lighter color than what I received. The front of the guitar is darker and a richer, redder tone than it shows here and the sides are even a deeper color. Honestly, I like it a lot better than the one in the product photo.

The tuner knobs and the metal parts around them are gorgeous. (Again, I posted a photo with more detail. ) I don’t know if the way it’s manufactured is a good or bad way of mounting and engineering the tuning keys but I love the way they look. We tuned the guitar and it’s been holding so far.

My son (13 y. o. ) was playing my full size guitar and having a lot of trouble getting his fingers around the neck and his right arm/elbow in a comfortable position. This 3/4 size is perfect for him.

The sound is nice, though I’m not a pro. I don’t have a lot to compare it to. There are three plastic (nylon) strings which I’m sure could be changed for metal but right now they’ve done the job.

I have been playing guitar for about 10 yrs now and I always wanted a “throwback” acoustic guitar to drag with me on camping trips or vacations so I had been looking at different 3/4 size guitars for their portability factor. I have had some bad experiences in the past with “low end” priced guitars but between the reviews and the selection (not to mention the stellar price) I figured that if I got the guitar and only used it once it would be no big deal. Well, a few days later the Oscar Schmidt came and there were no warps, bends, scratches, rattles, or anything to complain about. I tuned it (strings were already on it) and was amazed by the tone! I’m not saying that this is going to compare to 3/4 size guitars that price in the thousands but it is a great product for the price! Sounds great, looks great, and was exactly what I wanted! Would be great for beginners looking to see if they like the instrument and great for pros looking for something portable. I love it!
