Ibanez guitars are fantastic, especially for beginners. They’ve got thinner necks than most brands, which makes it easier for beginners and people with small hands to move smoothly between chords and notes. They’re built like rocks, sound incredible and are often nicer than guitars costing twice as much. I own an Ibanez bass, three electrics and two acoustics (one of which has been my primary guitar for more than 20 years) and not one of them has ever given me a moment of trouble. The same can’t be said for my more expensive guitars.
The world is full of guitar snobs who swear anything other than their own favorite brand is no good. But there are many great guitars that don’t have the name Fender, Gibson or Martin on the headstock. And there’s no such thing as a one-size-fits-all guitar, so it’s stupid for anyone to assume his favorite guitar is perfect for everyone. Anyone who says Ibanez guitars are junk either doesn’t know anything about the brand or would rather pay twice as much for a guitar that sounds half as good because he’s more hung up on the brand name than quality and playability.
I’ll post a link to a list of Ibanez endorsers. They’re all people who could afford to play any guitar they choose, but they choose Ibanez. And I doubt any of the people trashing the Ibanez name would tell jazz legend George Benson he’d be able to play a lot better if he got a “decent” guitar.
