Fundamentals and iPod Buying Guide

So, looking to buy an iPod? Please take time to get this short article to help the majority, most of its new iPod, and less, read the help to avoid mistakes and misunderstandings. This article is written from my personal experience with iPods.

1st What is an iPod?

An iPod is a MP4 player, MP3 player no. Basically, the MP4 format, a proprietary format only in products like the iPod and Apple QuickTime ™ is recognized. To play music on an iPod, it must be in MP4 format. music download site Apple iTunes ™, offers music only in MP4 format. ITunes ™ software which comes with an iPod file player, MP3 music to MP4 format to play on the iPod. An iPod does not play MP3 files, either Windows Media Player play MP4 files. Both the iPod Nano and the video store and display photos, but a video iPod is required to play video files.

2 What is iTunes?

Apple ® hosted the world’s largest music download site called iTunes ™. From March 2006 to over 1 billion files for use on iPods has been downloaded. Pretty Amazing. This site offers music files for 99 cents each, and no need to download an entire album, but you can only select the music files you want and upload it to your computer. ITunes ™ software on your computer is the vehicle through which the files are loaded into the iPod. Simply place your iPod in the Dock (which connects via USB to your computer), start iTunes ™ and iPod automatically with new music, playlists, podcasts and so on is updated. I have other music download sites and attempts have not found that I like, as well as iTunes ™, even if they offer music cheaper than iTunes ™. A simple search will look for alternative site for downloading music.

There are a variety of other files via iTunes ™ as podcasts. These are audio files or video, news programs, news broadcasts, comedy shows are, and many others. The vast majority of podcasts are free and others not.

3rd What you get

iPods are:

iPod battery

Headphones (the “ear”)

4 What You Need

Every iPod user needs a case and recommend a screen saver.

Both the iPod nano and 5th Generation (5G) iPod video susceptible to scratches, and black appliances seem to show scratches worse than whites. This applies to housing and the iPod screen. Nothing is worse than its iPod marred by scratches, especially if it is easily preventable with a case and screen protector. Then your iPod protection movement without purse or pocket carry the iPod quite quickly accumulate scratches on the casing and screen. Be careful! This is not really an error, but the way it is.

5 With the iPod in your car

Most people quickly realize that it would be great to play your iPod music through your car stereo has. There would confuse rather than with CDs or cassettes. How many CDs would have to carry your entire music library for you in the car? You can do with your iPod in the palm of one. So, how do you play music through car stereo? There are several options.

First, there are cables for most car stereos, which is in the iPod connector and the other end to a port on the back of your stereo. The stereo removal is usually required to perform this task. is also exposed to connect the cables used on your iPod. However, it is a good sound! Some car stereos have a line input on the front panel. In this case, it is not necessary is to use an adapter cable from the headphone jack of the iPod to the stereo input. In these two scenarios is the iPod internal battery runs out when a car charger is used well.

In the second method (and by far the most popular) is to use an FM transmitter to transmit a signal from your iPod to your FM radio and play as if it were a radio station. There are a number of FM stations from different manufacturers. We recommend the use of a unit, a dock and plug in iPod connection. The plug-in units consume battery power of the iPod and seem to generate a weak signal in the sound quality poor. A coupling unit (like the Griffin RoadTrip ™) keeps your iPod in place, charges the iPod and produces a strong signal. The RoadTrip ™ features a detachable FM module that can connect to the computer. So you can listen to FM radio on your computer without installing software.

6 º With the iPod at home

iPod can play on your home stereo. You can simply adjusting a cable in the headphone jack of the iPod and connect the stereo music. In this configuration, the iPod is powered by the battery when the iPod is connected, a battery charger.

iPod is the preferred method, and a variety of connectivity solutions. The iPod docking station on a base that connects the iPod is charged and an outlet at the bottom of the iPod to the stereo via a cable. Some devices offer a remote control for your iPod and some not, but often at the distance of this are weak and have very limited coverage and recording. We found that some remote controls or stereo TV programs may be that certain systems work with an iPod dock, while others work partially or not allowed. Worth a try if you have a programmable remote.

Some units also have a link video output for use with the 5G iPod video, which you can view videos or photos on the iPod on a TV, will be saved. We have determined that the image quality is poor in large TVs, but can be on a smaller screen. With a dock with S-video output is a measure of image quality as a device with an RCA connector. From iPods now have high definition support.

There are speaker systems that have their own amplifier and the operation includes a separate device with an iPod. These are not all equal. Our tests have shown that high price does not always mean high quality. Systems we found $ 150 in our opinion, clear sound over $ 400 units. It is better, the various systems before listening to their choice, or if you purchase online, follow the recommendations of the vendor if they tested the system and can offer recommendations based on test results.

There is an alarm clock radio (like iHome ™) to listen to your iPod go to sleep and waking, to allow as well. We tested the iHome ™ and others, and iHome ™ is our product of choice.

7th Upload your movies to iPod Video 5G

When the video iPod came out, gave me a high rank of the “Dumb-O-Meter.” Who wants to watch a movie on a 2nd 5-inch screen? But after than before, have recanted my original opinion. I have now the iPod of your choice. Unfortunately, iTunes ™ and other MP4 download sites have to offer is usually little in the way legal film format for playback on an iPod. ITunes ™ features several short films, music videos and television programs, but not much else.

A simple solution to this is to make your own DVDs into a format that iPod can play. This can be done by a software product called DVD to iPod Converter, how Cucusoft, Lenogo and many others. It is a simple process. Insert a DVD into your computer, start the conversion program and let it convert the movie, the iPod format. Then move the converted file in its list of iTunes ™ Video. The next time your iPod to your computer, load it into your iPod. Some programs are also iPod converter AVI, MPEG, MPG, WMV and other video formats for use by computer at a time. This allows you to convert your family videos and your iPod. IPod movies are very entertaining for children on the road, lost for the business traveler at the airport or aircraft for long trips.

8 iPods and computers

Music files for the iPod are stored in two places: on your PC in the program iTunes ™ and iPod in. If your computer crashes and you lose the hard disk or change the format, you lose all included in the folder iTunes ™, including all the songs you purchased from iTunes ™. In addition, iTunes ™ will not offer the possibility to download new songs you have purchased for free. You have to buy it again. Neither the iPod works with a device to get the files on a computer. Fortunately, there are software programs that copy the contents of your iPod to a PC or an iPod to another. These programs are usually titled “iPod to PC” or something similar. If your computer crashes, you yourself are not covered by this program in your music files will start again on the computer.

IPod to PC programs we recommend are available here.
