How do I use my stereo speakers with my mp3 player?

I have a stereo that doesn’t work anymore. I would like to use the speakers to listen to my mp3 player.
The stereo is attached to the two speakers by two red and two black wires; the wires end in bare wire that go into the speakers and are locked into place with a locking mechanism on the speaker. Is there an adaptor that will allow me to convert these speakers for use with a laptop or an mp3 player?

   you have to get a cord that will connect in both the speakers and mp3 player
