  1. I’ll check it with the words that is a duty that this device has been started in the 87 September of frequency. Go by default is the lowest of the unit is 88th January, but I will describe how to change the lower frequencies, so you have access to the 87th September later in this post.

I can use this unit with my iPhone 3G and have no problems with airplane mode, or to recharge. Everything works like no unexpected problems to the extent compatible with the iPhone 3G is determined.

    [Controls / Interface]
———- —————- br —-< /> The controls and interface of the device are very clear and clean. There are three buttons on the front of the cigarette lighter plug (next track, previous track, pause / play). The party FM transmitter has three buttons also set the frequency and provide a menu of options inside and outside. The numbers on the screen are very clear during the day and the buttons are easy to press without any problem. The iPod / iPhone connection is pretty self-explanatory and robust.

My only problem with the controls is the cigarette lighter socket. The buttons are all over the front of the connector, which means that the plug on the grounds that a track or pause / play, if the iPhone / iPod is connected before turning on the device means changing the pressed ceramic. If you’re like me and listen to music on the way to the car and just want to transfer, you may want to consider first, then connect the iPod iPhone.

    [Sound Quality / Signal]
————————- —–< br /> The signal strength of the device can only then be described as dull, if you are one of the preset stations. This unit is virtually useless as any other frequency in September 87th and by default, you may not, in the device to a 88 something (See instructions below on how to change stations on the 88th January).

However, when connected to 87th September, the signal is very clear and no static or noise is clearly audible. Apart from this, you will not get a clear sound of this device, even with the best performance. high tones sound slightly distorted and not as sharp as it should sound. Very deep bass sound a little muddy.

In general, the sound quality is clearer than the normal radio, but is not as clear as a CD in the deck.
    < , br / load [> / Other functions]
————————- —–< br /> The device has many features, but if there is something that is not characterized, it is charging.

loading works very well and I think my device charges quickly. The device has three levels of light and cigarette lighter plug glows red when the battery is charged, but low and green when the device is fully charged. He accuses my iPhone 3G quickly, but makes it a little hotter if left on for a long trip (30 + minutes). I believe this is too much of a problem, however.

intelligent preset station scan functionality are boring and often to search for stations. Two higher than a station that sends a very strong signal. This means that at these stations, you will hear the strongest signal and get nothing from the iPhone / iPod. The default setting to zero every time you scan and again the results are often very unreliable. Even if they work, the signs are very static-y and shuts off when going under a bridge or drive through at a good restaurant orders quickly.

    I will repeat once again:

use this device on the 87th September (All other posts are worthless)

is the only station that actually works this machine is not justice, and is the only station that I give this product a 2 – Stars and returned.

***** [How to get to 87. ] *****< Br /> [UPDATE 9: Please read the comments on this post, how to do this with new versions of this device. It works the same button, but the feature is moving apparently. />]
    *****************************< Br / Thoughts>
    [end]
——————————< br /> I have this unit 4 stars because I find consistent work very well at 87 found. 9 frequency. With this knowledge, I do not use dull or intelligent Preset Scan functionality. September 87th is with great sound and a good sign.

The prosecution does its job very well and controls the cigarette lighter and port work. The lights, which operate on the battery are a nice touch and the unit itself is smart.

This review concerns the model 4.046-TRPAUTOC # only released in late May 2008. This model is in fact compatible with the iPhone.

Well, let’s start with the good news. Finally, there is an FM transmitter on the market that supports the iPhone, without triggering the flight mode command prompt. It uses the dock connector and audio output from the device, even videos. This becomes an extra star.

That’s it. That’s the good news. Everything else is garbage.

Frequency – This unit will not vote at all stations of 88th First ideal territory is excluded in most U.S. car radios at this time there is no real U.S. radio stations.

SmartScan – supposedly these scans radio signals in your area and find the three frequencies with less interference from terrestrial radio. In short, does not work. The device can find a new set of three stations each time the scan mode, sit in the same place geographically. Nine times out of ten frequencies supposedly free radio stations, is actually full, and they are very strong. There must be a frequency that is low enough for the built-in FM transmitter to find overwhelming. This despite the fact that there are few truly free frequencies in this field.

Smart Sound – sound quality should improve. seems to turn up the volume of a hair (similar to the old “intensity” in some portable CD players with one or two decades ago). Yay! Stronger static

Radio Data System (RDS) – is the title and artist name on the side of the music on radios equipped with the transmission of such capacity. It does not work. In general, sends gibberish, even if the audio signal can pass.

FM Transmitter – The weakest part of the whole package. When part of this work, the rest is forgivable. He does not. You must not overwhelm the dead / frequency constant vacuum. This is the weakest of FM transmitters on the iPod and the style I have ever used. This is not acceptable, and I’m not even sure how this has made the development laboratory. You figure /> /> able to do what it was designed to do, but I think not.

    Update 06/15/2008:

I have this device a couple of times, after several “B” is about opinions, and after the discovery of an “Easter egg” hidden feature of the station. Although I would not say it makes me want to give it more stars (I prefer 5.1), there may be some differences with someone to do. More importantly, can help those of us who are foolish enough to have to buy the team.

this device can tune to FM broadcasts 87 9. This is a “hidden” function (also known as Easter Egg) device. If you are in the configuration menu “mode” of the opportunity, stereo / mono to do in the right side and on / off “Smart Sound” on the left side allow. In the center are just the logo of “Griffin” is displayed on the screen. Usually at the bottom of the screen (bottom center). If you and hold the middle button to the press after about 10 seconds, the central site Go to top. As a result, the channel opens at frequencies of up to less than a 88th FM transmitter.

Why is this important? Legally, the radio stations in the U.S. are limited from broadcasting less than a 88th or so (there are exceptions) is almost always an often quite open to any place in the U.S. (Not necessarily the case in other countries). Most car radios can tune down and (for use in other countries).

I found that being with this trick the device into a mode of transmission seems to be stronger. I’m not sure if an execution or if it is only due to less interference from terrestrial radio. Either way, it is a huge improvement over the off-setting the table, “but only through an FM transmitter in my first test so far. The AutoScan still does not work (in a semi-rural area with only a few moderately strong radio signals). The RDS does not work consistently. There is a great disappointment to my vs Kensington

I had to get a new FM transmitter, since it does not load my trusty (and big) Kensington FM Transmitter I found my new iPhone 3G. it had with my first generation iPhone worked so I was a little sad about it. After searching the internet for a few days I fell to the tunescan Belkin for iPhone and Griffin iTrip Auto Pilot. ITrip I chose because it had a better review iLounge. com and I am happy with the choice. Im not sure where they live the other reviewers, but if you live in a big city you have any questions always a good season with any FM transmitter. I live in the suburbs and scans the iTrip and pick a station quickly and that sounds as good as my old Kensington. I also love the buttons and light on the charger, making it easier and safer through music and then try to push the iPhone to the screen.

Therefore, if you are looking for a 3G iPhone FM transmitter load, looking not for the plane of the annoying pop-up, and who do not live in or near major cities, this is right for you. If you live in or near a big city, I recommend an alternative route to your iPod / iPhone on your stereo.

  4. M. Chesner says:

I bought this device to a Kensington model I can replace moderately satisfied with for many years. The Kensington model iPod was great, but up GSM interference on the iPhone, limits its usefulness when I switched. I have a 2006 Pontiac Vibe radio with CD changer, so it’s not a real option for a direct connection (without cutting off the radio and splice the wires).

The verdict is good but not perfect for this device.

    advantages: 1
The output is stronger and lighter than the product of two text
Kensington RDS works pretty well, though the mileage varies considerably over the radio 3
No interference with all GSM networks
4 No “Airport Mode” is displayed if the connection to the iPhone Plug
5 includes play / pause, forward, backward, and buttons for easy access
sixth SmartScan works well. I live in New York (Shelton, CT), and so almost all the channels on my radio is a little (or repeatedly overlapping transmissions) taken, but it succeeded in two seasons previously unknown, sufficient vacuum to function properly for the iTrip will not find.

    Disadvantages:
1 The transmitter is not as strong as the Kensington. If I manually at the station, always with the Kensington, a local radio station used heavily disturbed in line with the transmission. The same station was never a problem for the older unit. Again, after SmartScan, the new station, which had found no similar problem.
2 Tuning on the road is not easy. I can drive 40 miles to work every day, so I go through different radio bands from New York, Bridgeport and Hartford. The Kensington was the tuner in the plug, so you could easily change the station when he entered a new region. The iTrip is the cable, and can be difficult, and go get.

In general, I had a much better experience than the other reviewers on this unit. It is too early in my experience with the device, but I am very satisfied. I wish the season was stronger, but make it harder for recent court decisions, an RF transmitter really powerful, increasing fear of interfering with other nearby vehicles.

Griffin iTrip Easter egg: Place in a usable frequency. If you bought a new model, which did not hold the center button as written above people to work. . The only way to get a channel 88 1: 1
    Press the center button.
2 Press the right mouse button and hold for 10 seconds.
3 still hold the right mouse button and hold the preset button and center button, center and right buttons simultaneously. It may take several attempts.
