When you sign into zune marketplace what does the plays icon mean under your user name? Mine says 6,009 plays but I have no idea what it means.

i have a 120GB zune, but I never use the marketplace, so i don’t know. check the online guide at zune.net

Your number of plays is just the number of songs you’ve played. I believe it counts songs played in the software and on the Zune itself.
The badges are an award system for listening to a band or album. Below are the number of plays needed for each level.
Bronze Artist – 200 plays of an artist
Silver Artist – 1000 plays
Gold Artist – 5000 plays
Bronze Album – 200 plays of a single album
Silver Album – 1000 plays
Gold Album – 5000 plays
